Mogilev Oblast team took top honors at the Union State Olympiad, “Russia and Belarus: Historical and Spiritual Unity”

The finale of Union State Schoolchildren Olympiad “Russia and Belarus: Historical and spiritual unity” has been taking place in Saransk (Mordovia, Russia) from 19 to 24 October.

In all, 137 talented schoolchildren took part in the intellectual competition, among them were 48 representatives of all Belarusian oblasts, Minsk, BSU Lyceum named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky as well as 89 schoolchildren of various regions of Russia.

The program was rich and diverse. Participants were tasked not only with writing an essay and completing a comprehensive examination in the Russian language and literature, but also with showcasing their talents in creative contests—specifically, competitions in rhetoric and expressive literary reading. The students' work was evaluated by leading faculty members from higher education institutions in both countries.

Following a rigorous competition, 41 participants (25 students from Belarus and 16 from Russia) emerged as winners in the individual category.

Arseniy Potapenko, an 11th-grade student from Secondary School No. 39 in Mogilev, received a special distinction—a prize awarded by the organizing committee.

The team competition also proved to be a triumph for the Belarusian delegation. The team from the Mogilev Region achieved the maximum possible score, securing a well-deserved first place. Second place was shared by teams from the Gomel Region and the Republic of Mordovia. Third place was taken by teams from the Vitebsk Region, the BSU Lyceum named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky, and the Kirov Region (Russia).

The Union State Olympiad has traditionally served as a prominent event within the educational landscape of both nations, helping not only to identify gifted youth but also to strengthen the historical, spiritual, and friendly ties between Belarus and Russia.

The Ministry of Education of Belarus congratulates the winners and runners-up of the Olympiad, as well as their teachers and mentors, on these outstanding achievements!
