MINSK, 24 June - Minsk is currently hosting the Belarus-China youth forum. The official opening ceremony was held at the National Children's Technopark.
The forum was initiated in June 2024 by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko during a meeting with then-Party Secretary of Peking University (PKU) Hao Ping.
Participating in the youth forum are over 200 talented students, recognized for their achievements in science, arts, or sports, 36 Belarusian universities and 11 leading Chinese universities.
The forum will feature master classes on traditional and applied arts, an exhibition of innovative developments by young researchers, a visit to the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex, and much more. According to the organizers and participants, the forum will serve as an important platform for strengthening interethnic trust, expanding scientific and educational cooperation, and developing intercultural dialogue between Belarus and China.
“Thanks to our leaders, the two countries have established an all-weather and all-round strategic partnership. The same kind of relationship has developed in education and university science. As you know, we regularly hold rector forums. We have signed a major program of flagship projects (over 80 of them) which we are actively developing. As part of the Belarus-China Year of Scientific Cooperation, we are now hosting a landmark event: the Belarus-China youth forum, bringing together the most talented and gifted students from 47 universities of both countries. Here, the students will discuss cooperation and the projects they are implementing. The forum will culminate in the signing of a declaration in support of the youth of Belarus and China and the policies pursued by our heads of state. This will not be just words: it will be a concrete action plan in education, science, social and political activities, sports, and culture, which is extremely important. This is why we fully support the aspirations of our youth. Indeed, youth friendship is the foundation of friendship between our countries and peoples, because tomorrow’s young people will further develop our relations and our countries,” Aleksandr Bakhanovich emphasized.
The Belarusian-Chinese Youth Forum is an example of successful cooperation. This event not only helps strengthen ties between the youth of both countries, but also opens up new horizons for scientific and cultural exchange. Forum participants will be able to share ideas, experience, and knowledge with each other and this may lead to new joint projects and initiatives in the future.
