This year Gomel serves as a Youth Capital and welcomed general secondary education graduates from all districts of the country for them to celebrate “Last bell” national holiday.
The party began with an old and famous song “What we learn at school” in a contemporary style. Nostalgic vibes reached everyone present.
Education Minister Andrei Ivanets greeted the graduates. “They are the best of the best. They did well in studies, sports, art and were active in the life of social organizations. No need to say that the holiday is for 56 thousand this year’s graduates. This is their first ever step into adult live. We believe in their success at the exams and testing and subsequent entry into a university. - he noted.
“Our children do well during international competitions in school subjects, they are amazing sportsman and show creativity during art contests. I’m sure our young heroes will receive their deserved awards at oblast, city and district last bell ceremonies” – said Andrei Ivanets.
Graduation night is one of Ivanets’ brightest memories. “You will definitely remember the night forever. We had ours at BSU lyceum. We could spend the whole night chatting with teacher. We shared our emotions and thanked them for their colossal efforts. Later in life we understand how it is important to meet those who can teach” – told the Minister. Asked about his favorite school subject Ivanets responded it is chemistry. A solid choice for the eventual Doctor of Chemistry.
Paying tribute to tradition, the last bell rang. The eleventh-graders carried the first-graders with bells.
Dozens of couples danced in a gentle and touching graduation waltz. Hundreds of children joined the large-scale dance flash mob to the song "Your Time Has Come".
A large-scale celebration was organized for the graduates on the site and inside the ice palace. People share selfies from creative photo zones all over the country. For the children who are saying goodbye to school, playgrounds, TV studios, many surprises and interactive activities were organized.
The evening ended with a disco and festive fireworks. In the morning, a special journey into the past for the sake of the present and the future was prepared for the children. The excursion program for the delegations of the regions and Minsk includes a patriotic route to the military-historical complex "Partizanskaya Krinichka" and the memorial "To Children - Victims of War" in the agro-town of Krasny Bereg, Zhlobin district.
