International Mother Language Day was held in Belarus

Every year in February, International Mother Language Day is held to preserve the language as a cultural heritage of the Belarusian people. Within the framework of the holiday, secondary education institutions hold thematic classes (“What a miracle is my native language”, “Native language is a transparent source”), lesson-trips (“Shall native word sound forever”, literary guest houses (“Native language is a fashionable language”, “Roots of the native language”), conversation-quizzes (“Secrets of Belarusian words”, “Loyalty to the native word is loyalty to one’s people”), competitions of readers of works of art, creative meetings with scientists, writers, artists and other representatives of Belarusian culture (“Great masters of the word”).

On February 19, the final stage of the national competition of student research works (conference) on the subjects “Belarusian language”, “Belarusian literature” took place at the Academy of Education, in which students of grades 9-11 took part. The most interesting research topics were “Linguistic commentary on the speech of the village of Pashki, Polotsk district”, “Dialect words of the village of Vilyakaya Gat: linguistic features”, “Features of the use of the Belarusian language in the account of the gas station “A – 100” on the social network Instagram”, “The image of the mother in the poems of poets of the early 21st century”, etc.
