April 15, A republican preventive event “For safety together” kicks-off in Belarus. A fire can claim many lives at once. That is why teachers, health workers, law enforcers, journalists, social workers, communal workers and power engineers join lifeguards in their increase of awareness of people dying of the ruthless flame. No need to explain that prevention of emergencies is the main task.

Carelessness of citizens is oftentimes the main reason for the disaster. MES say it is possible to completely eradicate fatal causes only if safety measures are followed.

Fire is impartial and as a result of carelessness its victims might be kids and adults. Dangerous bad habits and kids left without supervision are the main reasons for the disaster. Carelessness of adults often ends not only in fire but threats to life and health as well. Spring brings warm winds and open windows bring additional work to lifeguards during deadly fire seasons. Kids riding bicycles close to roads are under big threat as well.

Life is our treasure. In order to save every Belarusian from the huge disaster, authorities host information hours for villagers and citizens, CEO’s and employees of a company. Specialists give real-life examples and explain the most effective ways and means of saving life and property as well as possible never-to-happen-with-anyone consequences in case of violation of the rules of self-security and salvation of a neighbor.

Teachers in cooperation with MES and MIA will talk to kids and will try to explain the rules of correct behavior in life as easy as it is possible. Kids will leave the class dedicated to safety, completely aware of what kind of emergency situations may happen at home and what to do in danger.

Adults will once again listen to the rules of fire safety in day-to-day life and at an enterprise. Particular attention is paid to examining the fire safety conditions of households of people who need additional social protection. MES workers will visit those who lead an asocial lifestyle, “socially dangerous” families with children, single and elderly people, disabled people and veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

During the Republican event one can apply for an examination of the fire safety conditions of a house or an apartment. Specialists will show the existing problems and shall advise how to fix them as fast as possible.

In case of a direct fire threat, old people and handicapped ones will be provided with temporal place of residence for the period of maintenance works.

Homeowners will be informed about the rules for using gas in the home, installing carbon monoxide alarms in their premises, checking the functionality of autonomous fire detectors, and to comply with fire safety requirements when lighting fires in their gardens.

In cases of violations of the rights and interests of children and other offenses, you can report them by calling 101, 102 or 112.

Campaign “For safety together!” will last until May 1, but prevention outside its framework does not stop for a single day. After all, a second of carelessness can claim your life.
