January 11, Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets visited the BNTU Lyceum and learned about the material and technical base of the educational institution, the conditions of training and education of lyceum students.

The head of the department inspected the buffet and dining room, examined the organization of meals for children, visited an exhibition of works from the art class, and a poster presentation “Information on the organization of the educational process in the lyceum.”

During a meeting with the teaching staff of the lyceum, the Minister stated: “BNTU Lyceum should be a well-known brand throughout the country. It is necessary that guys from all over the country come here, and not just from Minsk and the Minsk region. We need to organize our work so that in the Year of Quality we take a qualitative step forward in improving the quality of education.”

It was noted that the lyceum was included in the list of lyceums for which, starting this year, preferential admission to a specialized university - BNTU (for this you need to have an average certificate score of 8 and 9 points in a specialized subject) is provided.

Among the identified tasks, the rate of admission of lyceum graduates to BNTU should increase to 70%. It is also necessary to increase the number of children studying at the National Children's Technology Park. It is also important to develop a system for training Olympiad participants and increase the number of winners of the final level of the Republican Olympiad in academic subjects.

Another important issue is to carry out educational, patriotic and ideological work in such a way as to reduce the number of children entering higher education institutions abroad.

“We are a patriotic nation. We need to work with children and their parents in this regard,” the Minister emphasized.

In turn, teachers were interested in such pressing issues as: will there be benefits for the winners of republican student research competitions, technical creativity competitions, and tournaments for admission to higher education institutions; Taking into account the experience and effectiveness of participation in competitions such as tournaments of young mathematicians, physicists, the republican competition of student research works. is it possible to assist the lyceum teachers to be included in the jury of the above events? Are wages expected to increase in the future, especially for young professionals?

During the constructive dialogue with the student activists of the BNTU Lyceum and the student community of the Belarusian National Technical University, Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets called on lyceum students to be more active in their studies, science, social activities, and students - in the competition of scientific initiatives.
