Education Ministry invites you to compete in “StudRELAX”! It is a design competition to make the best break zone in university dormitories.

The regulations for its holding were approved the day before. One can apply until September. The organizers of the competition are the Ministry of Education of Belarus, the Republican Youth Center, and the Public Republican Student Council. The main goal is to create favorable conditions in university dormitories for young people to relax in their free time.

The main objectives of the competition include making a creative and comfortable place for communication and relaxation for young people, disseminating the best projects for organizing a recreation area for students in university dormitories, and stimulating students' creative activity. Each participant will be able to demonstrate their ideas and skills in developing student council projects.

The competition will be held in five stages. The first one is from April 1 to May 31 (development of a project for the creation or development of a recreation area in university dormitories if available), the second one is from May 31 to August 31 (implementation of the project), the third one is from September 1 to September 30 (submission of applications for participation in the 4th stage), the fourth one is in October (selection of the best projects by the organizing committee for their subsequent in-person defense), the fifth one is November-December (presentation of the best projects to the jury as part of the student council).

Projects can be presented on the following topics:

1. "Loft". A modern style where technical solutions are not disguised, but are elevated to the absolute and put on display. No need for ideal surfaces, natural materials, natural colors, unique and bright accent items, the cult of concrete, deliberate negligence, brickwork, brutality, highlighted beams, columns;

2. "High-tech". Modern, complex equipment and lamps. Accessories and decor are practically absent. Their role is played by numerous light sources and other objects;

3. "Techno". A strict style with clear lines, geometric shapes and an abundance of cold materials - glass, plastic, metal. The main colors in the techno style are gray, white, steel, khaki. Rough textures are used for wall decoration. A minimalist variation of high-tech, where only really necessary items are left, and all additional decoration is absent;

4. "Eco-style". Natural materials, elements of living nature and natural colors are combined. Furniture only of simple and regular shape. Artificial grass, stones, accessories made of natural wood are suitable for decorating the interior;

5. "Pop Art". A bright, provocative style, where various formats of references to the mass culture of a certain era are used as decor. An abundance of bright, saturated, and sometimes acidic shades. Many accessories, patterns, posters, drawings.

6. "Exclusive". The participant can choose a design direction that is not included in the above.

The jury will primarily evaluate novelty and originality, artistic and figurative expressiveness and compositional integrity, the use of modern technologies and materials. Particular attention will also be paid to the students' contribution to the creation of a recreation area, as well as compliance with the principles of ethics, environmental friendliness and ergonomics. And what is important, each of the projects submitted to the competition must be implemented.
