The Ministry of Education has approved the program for “In the world of engineering and technology: choosing an engineering profession” elective class by its Decree № 86 of July 19, 2024 “On approval of the curriculum of elective classes”. The curriculum is for grades X-XI of educational institutions implementing educational programs of general secondary education.

The emphasis is on the formation of technological culture of students, a positive attitude towards engineering activities, readiness for a conscious choice of an engineering path for further education.

This curriculum of elective classes includes components, the combination of which will allow for the effective organization of the educational process, taking into account the interaction of general secondary and higher education institutions. It is designed for 70 hours (2 hours per week) in grade X and for 68 hours (2 hours per week) in grade XI.

The content of this curriculum consists of eight modules for grade X and nine modules for grade XI, for which it is possible to choose the most relevant content from the variable component in the amount of hours specified for a component. The number of elective modules and their topics are determined by the educational institution.

Along with traditional teaching methods (story, conversation, demonstration) it is planned to use case technologies, project methods, discussions, game methods, information and communication technologies, as well as the potential of educational excursions, off-site classes, online seminars, webinars.

During the classes, along with familiarization with the theoretical material, significant importance is given to the implementation of practical work and group projects.

The result of studying each module will be a presentation of a group project with a discussion and presentation of the results obtained.

During optional classes, children will be focused on independent work with various information sources (including popular science publications, reference and encyclopedic literature), be able to prepare presentations, and also publicly present the results of their work.

As a result of mastering the curriculum, students will be able to predict possible environmental, technical, ethical, social, economic consequences of technological activities; apply effective solutions to various engineering and related problems based on the acquired knowledge and skills; plan and implement their educational and project activities, monitor their results; publicly and reasonably present the results of their activities.

Teaching staff who have knowledge in the field of engineering and technology, who have a creative approach to organizing and implementing the educational process, who are able to arouse students' interest in engineering activities and strengthen their intention to choose a technical specialty to continue their education will be involved in conducting classes
