Moscow is hosting the II Eurasian Economic Forum. The large-scale expert event gathered more than 2,700 representatives of government bodies, the business community, international organizations, and the media.
The motto of the economic forum is "Eurasian integration in a multipolar world." Within its framework, about 35 business sessions are planned, at which the political and economic transformation taking place in the world and the place of Eurasian integration in it will be discussed.
Today, the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Ivanets made a presentation at the thematic session: "Scientific and technical cooperation and vocational education: the main priorities of the Eurasian Economic Union"
The topic of the speech is “Scientific and technical cooperation between educational institutions within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union”.
The head of the Belarusian department stressed: “Belarus was very lucky at the dawn of its independence, because our leader, our President immediately chose the position that science and education are the foundation for the development of the economy of our country. In many ways, this allowed us not only to preserve those scientific schools that remained after the collapse of the Soviet Union, but also to actually form new directions, new schools and build our own national system of both education and the scientific and technical sphere.”
The priority of Belarusian science is to work for the country's economy. The main task of higher education institutions in this direction is to train specialists who, based on the latest achievements of science and technology, deep fundamental knowledge, can generate new ideas, create and implement innovative developments in production and the social sphere, and ensure the promising development of high-tech sectors of the economy.
The Minister of Education noted the importance of university science - in fact, every second defended thesis and doctoral dissertations are by scientists.
“Today, the head of state and the government set us a rather serious and ambitious task, to move from fundamental to applied research. In this regard, quite solid systemic measures are being taken in our country. I would like to note that such a form of development as the creation of industry laboratories (33 such industry laboratories operate in the system of the Ministry of Education) is actually a good, forgotten practice that works in the interests of 17 ministries and departments,” Andrei Ivanets informed.
The report also noted the high effectiveness of cooperation in terms of interaction between universities and scientific organizations of the Ministry of Education with institutions and organizations of the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. So, last year alone, about 80 scientific projects were completed, more than 220 direct export grants for the export of scientific and technical products.
The ongoing joint projects are already yielding significant results. For example, in 2022, the Research Institute of Applied Physical Problems of the Belarusian State University, together with the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation, carried out projects to develop and manufacture an orientation system for video spectral equipment.
Scientists from Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna) have developed a system for recording angular oscillations of the Earth's surface to study the movement of the base of the NICA collider.
“We understand the importance of further development and expansion of joint work of teachers and scientists from our countries in various areas. Today, life itself demands that we determine for ourselves the guidelines for intensive development, reaching the forefront, and ensuring the further transfer of our economies to an innovative path of development. Scientific knowledge is in demand by the economies of our countries as never before. And this opens up excellent prospects for the development of universities and scientific organizations, for the formation of new joint projects and areas of research,” said Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets.
By the way, the forum is an annual business event of the EAEU, which is held in the country that chairs the integration association. Last year the event was held in Bishkek.
Within the framework of the II Eurasian Economic Forum, experts also discuss issues of artificial intelligence, the launch of a new format "Eurasia of Regions" on the interregional agenda, issues of electronic commerce, labor productivity, digital payments and international digital units, Eurasian tourism clusters.
