Youth Capital is a status awarded to a city for a year. Citizens demonstrate commitment to modern youth culture and best practices in developing the socio-economic and political activity of young Belarusians.
Education Ministry holds the republican competition "Youth Capital of the Republic of Belarus" annually. Based on its results, Gomel was awarded the status. In the regional center, targeted work is being carried out to implement the main directions of the state youth policy. The number of young people aged 14 to 31 in Gomel is 91,872. This is 18.7% of the city's population. The region pays special attention to organizing events of a civic-patriotic nature, promoting a healthy lifestyle, developing youth initiatives, and supporting young families. Also important is that Gomel is the leader in the number of applications for the youth initiatives competition (more than 60) and for receiving grants from the President of Belarus in the field of state youth policy (more than 36).
The main event of the upcoming three days will be the opening ceremony of the republican holiday "Gomel Youth Capital-2025". A rich program awaits participants and guests. The events include visiting memorial complexes, getting acquainted with the production process at leading industrial enterprises, thematic workshops and flash mobs. An inter-university youth dialogue is also expected. In addition, it is planned to hold a presentation event "Initiatives of youth capitals: prospects and development", and a teleconference with the youth capitals of Russia.
