New academic year has begun and about 50 thousand freshmen plunged into studies in 42 institutions of higher learning. When students first stepped into their alma-mater, they could feel that they’ve been awaited and there are people who can help. Universities annually join the event titled “Freshman’s month” and every freshman has an opportunity to understand all peculiarities. Volunteer students and experienced teachers provide all the necessary informational and legal support. Every freshman’s daily schedule is completely busy. Besides classes they’ve got dozens of events that help almost immediately to dive into the learning process, student life and find contact with fellow students and teachers.

For example, every university of the country is hosting an introductory week titled “Freshman’s week is the beginning of student’s life” when it is possible to attend various dialogue platforms, interactive quests and presentations by youth societal unions.

Today, during the university's interactive platforms and master classes all attention is paid to science, sports and creativity, so that in addition to diligent study, our students have the opportunity to develop their multifaceted talents.

The Youth Extremism Prevention Week "Youth Against Extremism" will kick off on September 9. Students and their parents will be reminded of administrative and criminal liability for illegal actions. Particular attention will be paid to the forms and types of destructive manifestations, including through the use of instant messengers and social networks.

In addition, at the information platforms, first-year students will be told in detail about the investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War and the post-war period. A visit to memorial complexes will take place as well.

During the Patriotic Education Week "National Unity" from September 16, thematic exhibitions dedicated to the achievements of Belarus, our state symbols, and socio-economic development will be operating in universities. Students will visit traveling exhibitions of museums, libraries, educational and cultural institutions.

On September 16, they will write the republican dictation "National Unity Day". During the national holiday, meetings with politicians, public activists, journalists, and artists will take place.

At the end of the Freshman Month the week of prevention of drug distribution, consumption of psychoactive substances among young people "Make the right choice" will take place from September 23 to 29. Concerned young Belarusians will be invited to reflect on the solution to the problem of the century and draw attention to this topic of others with the help of thematic information stands titled "For a healthy lifestyle". Law enforcement officers, doctors, and athletes will be invited to the discussion.
