From October 23 to 27, representatives of more than 40 international universities take part in the 12 Forum of engeneering and technology universities of the Union state.
Among the participants are young scientists and specialists, students, undergraduates and graduate students of engineering and technological universities of the Union State, as well as students of foreign universities, representatives of government bodies, scientific organizations, subjects of innovation infrastructure and high-tech industrial enterprises of Belarus, Russia and other countries of the world.
Belarusian National Technical University and the Scientific and Technological Park "Polytechnic" will provide grounds for the forum's purpose for 5 days.
Three sections of the Forum will srart on October 24. One of them will be dedicated to youth entrepreneurship. Within the framework of this section, a competition of startup projects of the Union State will be held. The guys, together with their mentors, will be able to discuss the directions of development of their projects, their promotion, financing, and the correct approach to their implementation. The best startups based on the results of the competition can win laptops. In addition, the winners will be able to count on the support of BNTU in putting their ideas into practice. The other two sections will discuss priority areas for the development of the scientific potential of Belarus and Russia - energy, construction, economic security.
Ceremonial events are planned for October 25. On this day, sections will also continue their work.
Interim results and results of the business competition of startup projects will be summed up on October 26, and the final events are about to begin on October 27.
The Forum program also includes an Open Day, which will be held for applicants on October 28 at BNTU. During the meeting, young people will see the results of the large-scale event, leading startup projects will be presented, and they will learn about the scientific developments of the university.
Among the priority tasks is to attract a wide range of students, young scientists, and engineers to discuss the prospects for scientific and technical cooperation, and participate in the practical solution of problems standing in the way of scientific and industrial integration of Belarus and Russia.
The forum of engineering and technological universities has been held since 2012. Over the years, it has grown into the largest authoritative platform in the Eurasian space, where representatives of university science, youth and engineers have a unique opportunity to demonstrate their innovative ideas, technologies, and developments in a wide variety of industries.
According to the dean of the mechanical engineering faculty of BNTU Andrey Safonov, the most striking result of the Forum was the advanced engineering school of the Union State in the field of mechanical engineering and machine tools, within which highly qualified personnel are trained on an equal basis.
“This is a unique project to a certain extent. Currently, 30 advanced engineering schools operate in Russia, only one of them exists in the format of the union of Russia and Belarus - this is the Pskov State Technical University and BNTU. We train personnel for the Union State on an equal basis. This is the main task in the field of mechanical engineering and machine tools,” the dean emphasized.
Great progress has been made in the scientific part. Mirror scientific laboratories are being created to develop technologies and hybrid technological equipment, which involves various combinations of laser, plasma, and additive technologies. Joint research is being carried out in these areas, and there are already good results.
It was also noted that thanks to the work of the Forum of Engineering and Technological Universities of the Union State, mutually beneficial partnerships are being formed, issues of personnel training and the future creation of joint high-tech innovative productions are being resolved.
