August 1. The Board of the Ministry of education met to discuss the specifics of the work of a professionally oriented specialized classes.

The Board was attended by representatives of all structures on which the training of a motivated professional specialist directly depends.

The plenary session began with a speech by the Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets.

It was noted that specialized training was introduced in Belarus in the 2015/2016 academic year. In accordance with the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Education, specialized training is professionally oriented. It is based on the creation of conditions for the professional self-determination of students at the third stage of general secondary education, their subsequent introduction to future professional activities.

As part of specialized education, schoolchildren study academic subjects at an advanced level and master the curriculum of optional classes with a professional focus.

The curricula for optional classes with a professional focus were developed by specialized ministries and departments, higher education institutions and approved by the Ministry of Education.

The positive aspect is that newly established classes begin to teach for the most in-demand jobs in the country and this network is developing dynamically.

Thus, the issues of functioning of professionally oriented classes have been regulated at the legislative level. Recommendations for the implementation of curricula of optional classes have been prepared to help teaching staff.

The participants of the board also discussed other key issues related to increasing the effectiveness of professionally oriented classes and interdepartmental interaction.
