This is the second time the Olympiad has been held in the country. Organizers: Ministry of Education, Central Election Commission, Academy of Public Administration under the President, Academy of Education.

The main tasks of the Olympiad are: to increase the level of knowledge of the legislation of our country in the field of electoral law and the electoral process, to form an active civic position of students, their understanding of the importance of participation in elections, and to develop an interest in the socio-political life of Belarus.

This year the Olympiad had three stages. Back in early April, its participants listened online to lectures on the theory and practice of the electoral process. Then they took on a computer test.

From April 18 to May 3, Minsk was hosting the finale. The winners of the second stage of the Olympiad had 30 minutes to answer 30 questions on the theory and practice of the electoral process, and then took part in the “Vybor.BY” board game tournament. In addition, the guys presented essays on such topics as: “My choice is Belarus!”, “Why it is important to participate in elections,” “Vote or lose,” “My country is Belarus!”

Based on the results of the correspondence stage, out of about two thousand high school students, 70 of the best schoolchildren from all over the country reached the finals.

Today, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad took place at the Academy of Public Administration under the President. They received diplomas and valuable gifts.

Thus, the total winner of the Republican Olympiad was Polina Mazur, a student of high school No. 3 Zhitkovichi. The 1st degree diploma went to a student at the Drogichin gymnasium, Kristina Gorodetskaya, and a student at the secondary school No. 1 of Stary Dorogy, Anna Parkhimovich. Deputy Minister of Education of Belarus Alexander Kadlubai noted the fairly high level of training of the participants in the Republican Olympiad and expressed confidence that their number will be soaring in the years to come. “We have already developed such systematic work on the legal education of young people with the Central Election Commission regarding a number of events. And we must pay tribute that we always accept every initiative of a government agency. We are currently developing a number of educational projects such as “Kids master Constitution” and “Kids learn about Elections”, with relevant publications have already been published. We are developing a joint series of events for the projects. I am sure that we will expand them,” he added.
