Resolution of the Ministry of Education of August 31, 2023 No. 294 approved the schedule for extracurricular classes “The culture of healthy nutrition.”

The program is intended for students of grades V – IX of educational institutions implementing educational programs of general secondary education with Belarusian and Russian languages of instruction and education.

The class aims at developing students’ functional literacy in the field of healthy eating culture; fostering a culture of nutrition and awareness of health as the main human value.

The theory divides into the following educational modules: “Formula of healthy eating” for V (VI) grade; “We eat well and healthy” for VII (VIII) grade; “Physiology of nutrition” for IX grade.

Conducting optional classes is aimed at updating knowledge about health as one of the most important human values; expanding knowledge about the rules of healthy eating aimed at maintaining and strengthening health; developing healthy eating skills as part of a healthy lifestyle etc.

It is expected that after mastering the content of the extracurricular lesson program, students will understand the value of health and the role of healthy nutrition in its preservation, hygiene requirements for food, diet, etiquette rules related to nutrition, the role of food for the human body, the role of organic and mineral substances in the structure of nutrition, the concepts of “healthy diet” and “menu”.

In addition, the children will be able to navigate the assortment of food products, consciously choosing the healthiest, evaluate and monitor their diet and nutrition in terms of compliance with the requirements of a healthy lifestyle as well as create a daily menu, compose, analyze and adjust a healthy diet.

By the way, this year new dishes on the school food menu include steamed vegetables, thigh meat, and dumplings. Meals are specifically made for children with less salt and no pepper.

For preparing dishes, cooks never use hot seasonings, juices and drinks in the form of dry concentrates, natural coffee and crab sticks that do not meet the requirements for baby food.
