On April 17, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 109 “On control over the conduct of the admission campaign”.

The decree created a state commission to monitor the preparation and conduct of all stages of the admission campaign in 2023, including a centralized exam as part of the final certification for a secondary school course.

Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko has been appointed Chairman of the Commission, and it includes members of the Council of the Republic, deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, representatives of state administration bodies, regulatory bodies and public organizations.

Information and methodological support for the admission campaign will be provided by the Ministry of Education jointly with local authorities.

The State Commission will protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens upon admission to institutions of higher and secondary specialized education, and, if necessary, take prompt response measures to rule out violations of the law.

Today, a meeting of the state commission for monitoring the preparation and conduct of entrance examinations to educational institutions in 2023 was held.

Before the meeting of the state commission, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko informed that everything was ready for the entrance campaign in Belarus: “144 places have been identified throughout Belarus. Everyone knows his task at the time of the entrance examinations.

Igor Petrishenko spoke in detail about the features of the admission campaign this year. Thus, the admission campaign-2023 to universities is organized in Belarus in several stages:

* Stage 1 has already taken place in February - March 2023 in the form of the final stage of university Olympiads. About 2.5 thousand people took part in university Olympiads and 820 became winners.

* Stage 2 - Republican Olympiad in 18 academic subjects, the final level of which was held from March 27 to 31. 680 people became winners. All of them received the right to enroll in universities without exams. The peculiarity of this year is that those who won the regional stages of subject Olympiads for popular specialties (pedagogical and others) will also enter regional universities without additional entrance exams. From 2024, it is planned to expand the practice of holding regional Olympiads in the regions.

* Stage 3 - centralized exams, which are about to begin on May 14 in the Russian and Belarusian languages and on May 21 - in one of the specialized educational subjects at 144 points throughout the country.

* Stage 4 - admission of applicants on the basis of targeted training will be held at universities from June 1 to June 16.

* Stage 5 - centralized testing will traditionally take place from June 14 to July 4 (reserve days - July 11, 13 and 15).

* Stage 6 - enrollment. Approximately will take place from July 17 to August 11.

The Deputy Prime Minister called centralized exams the most responsible period: “About 53 thousand graduates for the first time this year will take the exam according to the new scheme. All preparatory work is complete. We have already conducted two trial exams in order to adapt our graduates to the peculiarities of this final certification. Those graduates who have successfully passed the centralized exam will take one test, and graduates of previous years will take three CTs, since they did not pass the CE,” Igor Petrishenko explained.

Targeted training has become very important. “Now the process of submitting and processing applications by both graduates and customer enterprises is underway. Starting from May 1, information on the number of places for targeted admission to universities will be posted on the websites of our universities. Applicants will only need to pass an oral or creative entrance exam.

This year, about 52 thousand vacant places are planned, of which a little more than 28 thousand are budget-funded, and about 23 thousand are paid. The motivation for increasing the number of budget places was the need to consider even more motivated children, and, taking into account the level of their knowledge, ensure admission to educational institutions. We are also planning admission campaigns to secondary specialized educational institutions,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

For information: A multi-level control over the introductory campaign and personal responsibility of the heads of state bodies and the local authorities has been introduced. The State Control Committee is responsible for compliance with the law in the preparation and conduct of the admission campaign. Representatives of government agencies, public associations and teachers - for entrance examinations directly in educational institutions.
