Preliminary results of the 2024 admissions campaign were announced today by specialists from the Ministry of Education during a press conference at the National Press Center.
First Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Bakhanovich, Head of the Main Department of Professional Education Sergei Pishchev and Deputy Head of the Main Department of Professional Education - Head of the Department of Vocational and Secondary Specialized Education Alexandra Petrova spoke in detail about the features of the admissions campaign.
Alexander Bakhanovich noted that the admissions campaign, which was conducted on the basis of the tasks set by the Head of State to create equal and transparent conditions for the admission of motivated, gifted and prepared applicants, has almost ended in Belarusian universities
The Ministry of Education created all the necessary conditions for the high-quality organization of the admissions campaign, which essentially began long before the start of accepting documents.
It was noted that career guidance work was organized in a new format with the wide involvement of personnel ordering organizations. Over 2,000 events took place, including Open Days, Job Fairs, and Targeted Training Fairs.
One of the key innovations is the holding of the Centralized Examination and the Centralized Testing within the same timeframe.
This year, along with information about the results of the Centralized Examination and the Centralized Testing, applicants were given the opportunity to: view scanned copies of the work in their personal accounts; information on the procedure for calculating the primary scores for each task and tables of correspondence between the primary and test scores, identical to the tables of the previous year were available before the exam.
“Taken together, this made it possible to make the procedure for checking and assessment of examination papers as transparent as possible and create equal conditions for applicants of 2024 and previous years,” emphasized Alexander Bakhanovich.
On August 3, enrollment for a fee-based form of education took place. A total of more than 16 thousand applicants were enrolled.
By the way, the admission campaign to agricultural universities for correspondence courses will be held in November-December. It is planned to accept about 2.4 thousand applicants for agricultural specialties in correspondence courses, including about 900 on the budget.
The department's specialists also noted that along with the training of specialists with higher education, the most important task is to provide our sectors of the economy with personnel with secondary specialized and vocational education. Today, obtaining such an education is very prestigious, and is in significant demand among young people.
Despite the fact that the admission campaign in colleges is ongoing, there are already some preliminary results of the recruitment. To date, 20.2 thousand applications have been submitted for the vocational training and admission period ends August 23.
In turn, 26.6 thousand documents were submitted for the secondary special level on the basis of general basic education (after 9 grades), and 9.3 thousand documents on the basis of general secondary education (after 11 grades).
Admission on a fee-paying for general basic and general secondary education continues until August 13.
“The results of the admissions campaign allow us to conclude that the decisions taken to improve the organization of admission of applicants were correct. No changes to the Admission Rules are planned for next year. The current version allows us to fully ensure all the necessary conditions for admission of applicants,” the First Deputy Minister of Education summed up.
