Today Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets paid a visit to the State Educational Institution “Secondary school #47 named after V.S. Michurin” in Minsk. While at school, Mr. Ivanets saw the material and technical base of the school as well as various cabinets such as geography, history and biology classes, kids social organizations, canteen, gym and a conference hall. The Minister also had an excursion around museum exposition “Olympic glory”, then, within the framework of his visit to the pre-conscription training center of the Leninsky district, he considered the issues of improving the work on the military-patriotic education of youth.

This school received its first students in 1954. Currently there are 30 base classes with 845 students and 22 specialized classes in sport with 567 students in total.

During his dialogue with students, the Minister stressed that this school not only preserved but strengthened the existing traditions.

“The sports path is hard, difficult and quite long. Every sport has its own kind of maturity. I would like that in the favorable conditions created at the school, you calmly and peacefully reached the given boundaries, your peak of form, could truly reveal your young sports talent. A gifted person is successful in everything. And your successes at the subject Olympiads are proof of this,” Andrey Ivanets shared his opinion.

Student-athletes demonstrated their sports skills to the Head of the Department during a demonstration performance.

At the III level of general secondary education, there are two specialized classes of a pedagogical orientation, two sports and pedagogical classes with a total occupancy of 133 students.

Here everyone has the opportunity to express themselves. This school provides education for 26 masters of sports, 173 master candidates, 300 adult sportsmen, 24 students are members of the junior national teams of the Republic of Belarus.

One of the main tasks of the school is to create favorable conditions for the effective combination of education and the training process.

Among the graduates of classes specialized in sports are the leading athletes of the Republic of Belarus, European and world champions, winners of the Olympic Games. Many of them have chosen the profession of coach.

The school has brought up three honored masters of sports, 165 masters of sports, 15 of them are of international class.

The round table “From youth sports to elite” also gave many useful information for the children.

Among the participants of the thematic event were famous graduates of the school, such as Alina Gornosko she is an International master of sports, a bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, a world champion in the ribbon exercise and multiple winner of the world championships, a silver medalist of the European Championship in rhythmic gymnastics in individual all-around and multiple medalist of the European Championships. The event was also attended by Egor Shchelkanov, an International master of sports and a silver medalist in swimming at the XVI Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020. Vera Gorelikova an International master of sports, champion of the European Games, European champion among juniors, a bronze medalist of the European and World Championships among girls in 2019 was among the guests as well. In fact, she is also a sambo coach.

Students of grades 10-11, masters of sports and candidates for masters of sports, winners and prize-winners of republican and international competitions in various sports, winners and prize-winners of republican olympiads in academic subjects took their opportunity to ask the leadership of the Ministry of Education their topical questions related to entrance examinations to universities , benefits for admission, and also asked eminent athletes about motivation in sports and how to achieve high sports results in official competitions.

The Minister also visited the pre-conscription training center of the Leninsky district, created as a structural subdivision of a general secondary educational institution, where he got acquainted with the work of the center for military-patriotic education of youth.

Let us remind you that in the 2022/2023 academic year, 58 pre-conscription training centers operate in institutions of general secondary education, in which 20,567 boys and 21,194 girls from 724 institutions of general secondary education study.
