The 2022/2023 academic year is about to end. There are 2,900 institutions of general secondary education in the Republic of Belarus, educating over 1 million 85 thousand students. About 100 thousand 600 students of the 9th grade study in gymnasiums, lyceums, and schools. In comparison with the last academic year, the number of graduates of the 9th grade increased by more than 2.8 thousand people. This academic year, about 52.9 thousand students study in the 11th grade. In comparison with the last academic year, the number of 11-graders increased by 600 people.
On May 23, the main events dedicated to the end of the academic year will start. On this day in Lida for 11th grade students there will be a republican holiday "Last Bell". The best students of the 11th grade of institutions of general secondary education in Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Vitebsk, Mogilev and Minsk regions and more than 800 people from the Grodno region will participate in the holiday.
For all high school graduates, Last Bells will take place on May 25. For the rest of the schoolchildren - classes will end on May 31. The end of the academic year, including summer holidays in accordance with the new edition of the Education Code, is August 31.
The day before, students of the 11th grade on May 14 and 21 passed two CE for the first time.
Those students who did not pass the CE for good reasons will be able to take it on May 23 and choose between Russian or Belarusian languages and on May 25 with 13 subjects available to choose from.
The admission of such students on reserve days is carried out by commissions that are created in the Main Departments for Education of the Regional Executive Committees and the Education Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
Deputy Head of the Main Department of General Secondary, Preschool and Special Education - Head of the Department of General Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus Irina Karzhova once again reminds all students of the mandatory and strict procedure for passing the Centralized Exam.
Students are not allowed to carry other items with them, except for those that are installed by special instructions. You are free to take with you only a pass, an identity document and a pen with black ink. For subjects such as chemistry and physics, the use of simple calculators is possible.
Students dismissed from the CE will be able to take it on other dates: August 21 and August 23. Such offenders will be able to get a certificate of general secondary education, but, unfortunately, they will not be able to enter this year.
An exciting time awaits ninth-graders - they will take their final exams from June 1 to 9. Such students must be certified for the fourth quarter and for the academic year in all academic subjects by May 25. Nine graders will have to pass four subjects this year: Russian and Belarusian languages (written reproduction), a test in mathematics and an oral exam to succeed in Belarusian history. Four astronomical hours were allotted for writing the reproduction and the test in mathematics. Texts for the final exams in writing in the 9th grade will be announced in the media and posted on the website of the Ministry of Education, just as in previous years.
Final exams in written form will be held on 1, 5 and 7 June. The specific schedule is approved by the head of the school, taking into account the recommendations established by the Ministry of Education.
According to a representative of the Ministry of Education, the collections containing reproductions for the final exam in the 9th grade were published in the fall of 2022 and delivered to educational institutions for preparation. To write a test in mathematics, collections are used, starting from the 2020 edition, in 2023 the collections were reprinted.
Final exams in the history of Belarus will be held on tickets approved by the Ministry of Education. "Each ticket contains two questions. The second question provides for a practical task aimed at testing students' ability to work with different sources of historical information: fragments of a historical document, historical map, diagram, table, diagram, illustration, and so on. In 2022/2023 academic year, it was decided that the final exam in the 9th grade in the history of Belarus be held using unified practical tasks. From February 1, a bank of materials for preparing for the final exam in the history of Belarus was created on the National Educational Portal. The data stored in this bank will be used as a source for the questions to be answered during the exam. The bank of examination tasks will be available starting from May 25. From May 25 to June 1, consultations on preparing for the final exams will be held in educational institutions. During them, there may be specific tasks, which students will receive by drawing a ticket on the history of Belarus," the deputy head of the main department informed.
Irina Karzhova added that the final exams in the 9th grade will be held in educational institutions where students study. Now they are creating commissions for taking the final exam from among their teaching staff.
On June 10, graduation parties will take place in Belarus with the presentation of certificates of general secondary education, as well as of a special type, awarding gold and silver medals.
We remind you that these solemn events are held only in institutions of general secondary education. In some cases, a graduation party may be held in an institution of additional education for children and youth, cultural institutions in agreement with the local executive and administrative body.
As for the duration of these festive events, this format is determined by the decision of the head of the school (gymnasium, lyceum) in cooperation with the parent committee and in agreement with the executive committee.
Today, scenarios for the upcoming last calls and graduation parties have already been developed, and serious preparations are underway for them. The potential of our schools allows us to organize and hold events at a high level on our own, without involving any third parties - presenters, showmen, individual entrepreneurs.
Thus, we can assure you that the education system is ready to complete the graduation campaign of the 2022/2023 academic year.
