Education plays an important role in bilateral relations with China

“China Education Expo” – is a unique opportunity to present Belarusian educational possibilities on high level. This will strengthen the prestige of Belarusian education.

“Development of connections with China is a priority in our foreign policy. Thanks to joint efforts, a comprehensive strategic partnership gained main importance in Sino-Belarusian relations. Today, Minsk and Beijing continue to broaden constructive political dialogue and successfully develop the economic partnership and expand regional connections” – says Alexander Lukashenko, who is on a state visit to the People’s Republic of China.

Education plays an important and fundamental role in the bilateral relations. By now, Belarusian and Chinese educational institutions signed 530 direct treaties on cooperation. The academic mobility between the two countries continue to rise. Thus there are 8 000 students in Belarus from mainland China, 500 our citizens receive education in China.

The creation of joint educational structures is being actively promoted. Thus, currently there are 7 joint structures: 3 laboratories, 2 centers and 2 institutes. The possibility of organizing joint training of highly qualified scientific personnel is also being explored.

Educational institutions of the two countries are implementing 40 joint educational programs of the first and second stages of higher education, 10 of which were completed in the last 2 years.

A continuation of the positive cooperation in the field of education was the recent visit of the Belarusian delegation to Beijing to participate in the International Educational Exhibition "China Education Expo", during which the collective thematic exposition "Education in Belarus" was held with the presentation of educational programs of leading Belarusian universities.

The Republic of Belarus in 2023 was represented by the country's leading institutions of higher education: Belarusian State Economic University; Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics; Minsk State Linguistic University; Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts; Pavel Sukhoi Gomel State Technical University; Belarusian National Technical University; Euphrosyne of Polotsk State University and Arkadiy Kuleshov Mogilev State University.

The thematic exposition "Education in Belarus" aroused great interest among the visitors of the exhibition. A wide range of demonstrated projects and training programs in various specialties allowed those interested to get acquainted with the educational potential of Belarusian institutions of higher education.

The collective thematic exposition of the leading Belarusian institutions of higher education has become the most popular among Chinese applicants and heads of leading Chinese universities.

It should be noted that the Belarusian delegation was the only foreign delegation represented at the exhibition. During its work, the Belarusian stand was visited by more than 2,000 young men and women of China, who were interested in studying in the Republic of Belarus.

During the exhibition, Belarusian representatives met with Secretary General of the China Education Association for International Exchange Wang Yongli, Head of Department of International Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Ministry of Education of China Liu Jianqing.

Also during the visit, the Belarusian delegation visited the Langfang Shugao Higher Secondary School (Xianghe County), the largest consulting agencies Talent Education Charitable Foundation, Jin Zile LLC, Beijing Hangzhou Learning Co., Ltd, institutions of higher education of the PRC: Beijing University of Language and Culture (Beijing) and Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (Beijing).

During the negotiations at the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, the possibility of entry of higher education institutions of the Republic of Belarus into the International Engineering and Architectural Consortium of Educational Institutions was discussed.

Following the meetings of representatives of Belarusian higher education institutions with Chinese universities and consulting companies, 17 agreements on cooperation in the field of educational services were signed, 16 agreements were worked out for signing.

The organizers and participants of the exhibition noted the high level of presentation of educational opportunities in the Republic of Belarus, which will help to strengthen the prestige of Belarusian education.
