February 27, the Ministry of Education hosted a meeting between the First Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Bakhanovich, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Belarus, Ibrahim Salim Mohammed Al-Musharrah.
During the talks, the Belarusian side expressed confidence that fruitful joint activities will contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of education and science.
It was noted that in January 2022, the first meeting of the working group on cooperation in the field of education between representatives of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Education of the UAE was held in a video conference format. In this regard, there is interest in holding a second meeting.
The next important point is the establishment of direct contacts between educational institutions of the two countries. “Interaction between universities is the most effective area of cooperation,” Alexander Bakhanovich is convinced.
In this regard, it is indicated that bilateral interaction at the inter-university level is carried out within the framework of 4 direct cooperation agreements (signed by the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, BSU, BSUIR and MSLU). A number of Belarusian educational institutions, including Pavel Sukhoi University, BSEU, BSAA, BSUT, BNTU and VSU named after P.M. Masherov are also interested in establishing contacts with educational institutions of the UAE.
Also relevant is the area related to the training of would be fluent Arabic language speaking professionals on the basis of Belarusian universities. Thus, groups for studying the Arabic language have been opened at the Faculty of Education of the BSU and at the Minsk State Linguistic University. In addition, the study of the Arabic language is organized on the basis of the State Educational Institution “Gymnasium No. 24 of Minsk”.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the creation of joint educational programs in areas of mutual interest, the issues of organizing summer camps for Emirati students, teacher internships as well as cooperation in the field of joint scientific projects.
“The basis of any activity is friendly communication. I hope that our meeting will become a new stage in the development of bilateral cooperation,” summed up the First Deputy Minister of Education.
In his response, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Belarus, Ibrahim Salim Mohammed Al-Musharrah, stated: “Undoubtedly, the issues we are dealing with are very important, as they are related to the interests of future generations. No secret that education is the most promising sector for cooperation between countries. “I will make every effort to intensify our cooperation and begin to implement our plans.”
The Emirati side is interested in joint scientific projects, an educational program of in-depth higher education, and studying the work of our Competence Centers.
