Next week, students will start moving into dormitories of higher and secondary specialized education institutions across the country. This was announced at a press conference in the House of Press by Violetta Kravtsova, consultant for the Department of Youth Affairs of the Main Department of Educational Work and Youth Policy at the Education Ministry.
Dormitories are ready for the new academic year
All student dormitories in the country have undergone serious preparation for the new academic year. Large-scale work has been completed in educational institutions:
*deep cleaning and disinfection of premises;
*utility systems (heating, water supply, power supply) have been repaired and checked;
*living rooms, corridors, bathrooms and common areas have been cleaned and fixed up.
“The dormitories are ready for students to move in. All the necessary favorable conditions have been implemented in the dormitories for our students. We are planning to open the doors next week,” Violetta Kravtsova emphasized.
Who will move in first?
Education Ministry jointly with regional executive committees, Minsk City Executive Committee and educational institutions, continues systematic work to provide out-of-town students with accommodation. A clear system of priorities is in effect when distributing places.
The following are accommodated out of queue:
*out-of-town students from among orphans and children left without parental care;
*students with disabilities from childhood.
The following may expect priority accommodation:
*persons with benefits in accordance with the law "On social protection of citizens affected by the Chernobyl disaster and other radiation accidents";
*students listed in the database of talented and gifted youth.
Preferential right to accommodation
The procedure for accommodation, rules for recording applications and internal regulations are approved in local regulations of each educational institution. The heads of universities and colleges independently determine the categories of students who have a preferential right to receive a place in a dormitory. These include:
*students from low-income and large families;
*students from single-parent families (raised by one parent);
*active participants in the social, cultural and sports life of the university or college.
The remaining places shall be distributed in accordance with the legislation and internal regulations of the education institutions.
What is needed for check-in?
Students planning to check-in are advised to contact the administration of their educational institution in advance to clarify the check-in schedule and the necessary documents. As a rule, the following will be required for registration:
*passport;
*certificate of residence (confirming the absence of registration in the city of the educational institution);
*referral from the university or college for check-in;
*medical certificate of the student.
Social support is a priority
Providing out-of-town students with housing is an important part of the state policy in the field of youth and educational support. This is especially relevant for students coming to study from remote areas of the country.
The Ministry of Education continues to work on optimizing housing conditions, modernizing dormitories and increasing the level of living comfort. Projects for major repairs, installing video surveillance systems, creating self-service areas and improving infrastructure are already being implemented.
Important: All questions of interest regarding accommodation can be clarified in the dean's offices, student committees or on the official websites of educational institutions.
The academic year begins not only with lectures and seminars, but also with a new stage of student life - in comfortable, well-appointed and safe conditions of dormitories!
