Today, the final meeting of the board of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus “On the results of the work of the Ministry of Education for 2022 and tasks for 2023” was held. The event was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Council of Ministers, rectors of universities, heads of education departments of all regions and the city of Minsk, heads of subordinate organizations.

Minister of education Andrei Ivanets presented a report on activity of the Ministry of Education in 2022.

Mr. Ivanets noted that in 2022 the education system has been dealing with the most important issues. “First one is upbringing at all education levels, undoubtedly. Second is work on improvement of the education quality, starting with preschool facilities and all the way to institutions of higher education. Third issue is definitely, training of the skilled personnel for the real sector of the economy. In this particular issue, we used the principle of social justice, equal rights and availability of our young people regardless of their place of living. We also considered demand on various specialties. We managed not only preserve but reach a new level of improving the quality of general secondary education. The system of final attestation changed dramatically as well. The Trial centralized exam showed that we will be able to see absolutely every graduate of a general secondary school. This will allow us to get very serious tools to work in every school, in every class. Every teacher is even more motivated to graduate a well-prepared young man," Andrey Ivanets said.

Mr. Ivanets also added that the education department did everything necessary to create adorable conditions and trials gave opportunity to know what it looks like, to take the centralized exam. In addition, we have taken a very serious step in holding customer fairs for targeted training. In December - January, such fairs were held in every regional center, more than 40 thousand students and over 1.1 thousand organizations of personnel customers took part in them. We can safely say that today the customers of personnel in the education system are working closely to fulfill common tasks," he stated.

The head of the department noted that educational and ideological work was and still remains the most important direction in the education system. "A multidimensional and controlled educational space has been formed in the country from kindergarten to university. Pedagogical teams pay due attention to shaping the worldview of the younger generation, its civic and patriotic education, and preparing them for further independent life. The events of the Year of Historical Memory opened up additional educational opportunities for teachers, diversified forms and methods of work, contributed to the formation of a careful attitude to history and culture, increased responsibility for the future of the country. This work should continue to be carried out systematically: both in the course of educational activities and through training sessions," Andriy Ivanets said.

He noted that one of the most important activities of the department is also the preservation and strengthening of the health of students, the development of a careful and responsible attitude towards it. "The Ministry of Education annually holds about 195 sports and mass sports competitions. Large-scale events last year were the Republican Spartakiad of schoolchildren in 24 sports, the Republican Universiade in 35 sports. The coverage of these events amounted to more than 300 thousand people. Holding events at a high organizational level is ensured through close cooperation with regional executive committees, the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, and the Presidential Sports Club.

The minister emphasized a very important aspect in his speech: “The quality of modern education is determined not only by its content and educational technologies, but also by its humanistic orientation. Characters, destinies, and sometimes lives of hundreds and thousands of children depend on the level of culture, moral values, decency, kindness and other human qualities not only of teachers, but of everyone involved in the education system. And each, even a single case of non-observance of ethical norms by a teacher or lecturer negatively affects the formation of a new generation, the social status of a teacher and the prestige of our profession as a whole.”

“Society requires from teachers both the performance of their own professional functions in teaching and educating the younger generation, and high moral qualities, the return of their former elitism in society. It is gratifying to note that we have the majority of good teachers. We appreciate their work,” Andrey Ivanets noted.

At the end of the board, the best educational institutions and representatives of the education system received awards based on the results of work for 2022.
