School of Active Citizen brought today one of its information-educational projects to pupils of 8-11 grades. Topic: “My fatherland in persons. It all starts with a family”.
In the spotlight today are family values and traditions, moral principles, family role in the development of a harmonic person, parental role, happy family.
Education Ministry puts greater emphasis to family, where a child gains his first impressions of the world and learns how to differentiate between moral principles, good deeds and commitment.
In the frames of SAC project Andrei Ivanets met with high school graders of Knyazhitskaya middle school. Mr. Ivanets believes: “Children need a family. Nothing better can be found”.
Last year the Ministry initiated a series of small format books in Russian and Belarussian. The content is all about the country’s major symbols and it is written in a clear-to-all style. This series include: “Coat of Arms, Flag, Anthem: State symbols of the Republic of Belarus”, “Country I live in”, “Belarussian pupils – heroes of the Great Patriotic War”, “Belarus and sport”, “Holyday kaleidoscope. Belarusian folk traditions”.
Knyazhitskaya school received the series as a gift for pupils to be proud of their country, national traditions and history.
Education Minister also had a constructive dialogue with teachers who wanted to know about the work of parental universities, graduation exams and teaching potential. Andrei Ivanets noted the importance of interaction between school and family. “Parents must be actively involved in cooperation not only with a teacher, but participate in an active dialogue about current problems in education, upbringing and pupil’s worldview as well”.
Participants also spoke about the necessity of the sixth school day, visits to museums and sport clubs. Last year the Ministry of culture implemented a program implying entrance free visits to museums and it will continue this academic year in the same fashion.
Civil-patriotic education has to be dealt with separately. Every youngster must understand that love to fatherland is not enough! Be ready to defend it in a broad sense, it means at workplace, through studies and military duties.
The Ministry of Education is actively working to develop military-patriotic classes, museum pedagogy, and the creation of military-patriotic clubs. Schools are faced with the task of creating an interest club in each school this academic year and carrying out serious work on organizing military-patriotic classes.
The Minister of Education also today visited the Belarusian State University of Food and Chemical Technologies, met with the teaching staff and students.
During an extended meeting of the University Council with the leadership of the Ministry of Education, representatives of the teaching staff, young scientists and students reviewed in detail the Development Strategy of the institution.
During the open, principled dialogue, they discussed promising directions for the functioning of BSUT for the next 5 years. All aspects of the university’s work were examined in detail, and specific proposals were made to improve its activities.
The university’s plans include creating specialized republican scientific and practical centers, adjusting the enrollment structure and updating the list of specialties, developing scientific potential and establishing interaction with the real sector of the economy, improving research and innovation infrastructure.
“The close attention to BSUT is not accidental. The university has its own uniqueness. Our joint task today is to develop an effective strategy for further development for the university. So far, the proposed program requires adjustment,” said Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets.
