Minsk, 19 January. On 15 January Belarusian president appointed new rector to work in one of the leading universities of the country – Brest State Technic University (BrSTU). Andrei Parfievich, BrSTU graduate, whose professional career and activities in science closely connected with the university.

Today, Andrei Ivanets introduced the newly appointed to the staff. In his speec, Ivanets noted that the education system deals with ambitious tasks set by the head of state. These tasks include training of highly-qualified specialists in engineering who will work to find growth points both for current and future needs of the country and Brest region.

Andrei Parfievich, 39, Brest region native, after graduating from BrSTU he continued his studies in master’s and postgraduate studies in machine-building. As a candidate of technical sciences, Andrey Parfievich specializes in vibro-acoustic diagnostics of multi-shaft gear-based drives and neural network data analysis. Prior to his appointment as rector, he served as vice-rector for academic affairs.

Pyotr Parkhomchik, Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, noted that areas such as aircraft manufacturing, shipbuilding, automation, robotics, and artificial intelligence are particularly important in the new five-year plan. "For their development, we need specialists who can not only work, but also create, invent, and develop," he emphasized.

In his first address to the staff, Andrey Parfievich stated: "We are focusing on the practice-oriented training of engineers essential for the region's mechanical engineering enterprises. We plan to offer classes in design engineering and process engineering. The university has well-developed competencies in robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, and big data processing."

The appointment of a new rector marks a new stage in the development of BrSTU, a university that traditionally plays a key role in training engineering personnel for the entire country.
