From February 1 to February 10, 2023, the Republican school of physics and mathematics hosted the 19th Zhautykovski Olympiad in Almaty (Kazakhstan). The Olympiad took place with the help of distance technologies.
The history of the international Zhautykovski Olympiad begins in 2005 when it was held under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This Olympiad is a joint project of the Republican scientific and practical center “Daryn” and the Republican specialized boarding school for gifted kids named after Orymbek Zhautykov.
One thousand participants from 25 countries took on the tests this year. Among them are contestants from Indonesia, Belarus, Russia, Nepal, Egypt etc.
The aims of the Olympiad are to promote physics and math sciences among students, develop international cooperation, establish friendly relations between specialized schools from different countries, exchange experience in the field of Olympiad management and demonstrate the level of culture and education of Kazakhstan. The Olympiad is unique in that it is held in three subjects at once among specialized physics and mathematics schools. Based on the results of the Olympiad, an individual rating is summed up, as well as a rating of the strongest teams.
The closing ceremony and summing up of the results took place on February 10, 2023 in online format.
Ninety students represented our country. Among them 33 competed in math, 41 in information technologies and 16 in physics.
After the 19th Zhautykovski Olympiad ended, 57 out of 90 Belarusian students have won medals. Belarusian students received the following awards:
In math – 4 gold, 5 silver and 10 bronze medals;
In physics – 2 silver and 4 bronze medals;
In information technologies – 3 gold, 8 silver and 22 bronze medals.
In the team standings, the team of the State Educational Institution "BSU Lyceum" finished third.
