Belarusian pupils won EGEO-2024!

This year Serbia took on the hosting duties for the 10th tournament from June 28 to July 4. The tournament had three stages: theory, practice and multimedia. All tasks were in English and divided into the main sections of physical and socio-economic geography, geo-ecology and cartography. Individual competitions were held for two age categories of participants – 12-15 and 16-19 years old.

Young geographers from Belarus took part for the fourth time. This year they demonstrated a high level of preparation for the international intellectual tournament, as evidenced by their brilliant results.

Our guys chased victory along with about 200 representatives from 11 countries: Russia, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Denmark and Slovenia. But in individual tests, it was the quality of Belarusian education that prevailed.

The preparation of young geographers for the Olympiad took place under the strict guidance of BSU teachers. The team was led by Elena Kolmakova, Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics, and Natalya Pisarchuk, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Educational Innovation.

Nikolai Misiyuk, a student at gymnasium No. 2 in Brest has achieved total victory! (his teacher is Yulia Bogdasarova).

Gold medals went to students from Vitebsk gymnasium No. 1 named after Zhores Alferov, Vadim Ignatenko (teacher is Lyudmila Korneenko) and student of secondary school No. 18 Baranovichi Alexandra Bogdanova (teacher is Irina Snigirevich).

Stanislav Brodnitsky, a student from Pruzhany Secondary School No. 5 (teacher is Elena Levchuk), won silver.

Alexey Klimko, a student of secondary school No. 118 in Minsk (teacher is Tatyana Sakolchik), won bronze.

A certificate of participation was awarded to a student of secondary school No. 37 in Mogilev, Anastasia Sharomet (teacher is Alesya Shipets).
