Education for the future of the country

A fruit and busy visit to the Republic of Zimbabwe of the Belarusian delegation of the Ministry of Education led by the first Deputy Minister Alexander Bakhanovich ended today.

The key aspect of the visit was participation in the first session of the Joint commission on cooperation between Belarus and Zimbabwe, which took place in Harare. In the frames of the visit negotiations took place between the first Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus alexander Bakhanovich and Zimbabwe's Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Amon Murwira.

In the spotlight were prospects for cooperation in education. The parties discussed the issues of exchange programs for students and teachers, joint education programs, scientific projects and initiatives aimed to enhance the existing education quality and access to it.

In order to strengthen international ties in education Alexander Bakhanovich went to a private school to conduct comprehensive meetings with principals, as well as parents and students willing to study in Belarusian universities. Mr. Bakhanovich presented programs available in Belarusian universities and dwelled on the advantages of studying in Belarus. He also emphasized on the importance of access to a quality education and the role of Belarus in its implementation on international scale.

When the parties came to the University of Zimbabwe Amon Murwira demonstrated new labs and research centers opened throughout the previous 5 years, thusly emphasizing the importance of education for technology development of the economy sectors.

No less interesting was a presentation of the book written by Emerson Mnangagwa titled “Redefining Zimbabwe’s Education System: ED Mnangagwa’s Vision and Transformational Leadership”

The book, which has Heritage-Based Education 5.0 as its driving theme, underscores the value of harnessing Zimbabwe’s rich heritage as well as individual and collective talents, to accelerate the attainment of the country’s national development aspirations.

President Mnangagwa said the book was about Zimbabweans, their identity and what they were capable of achieving as a people.

Following the results of the bilateral meetings it was noted that the visit was an important step towards the expansion of international cooperation in education between Belarus and Zimbabwe.
