February 2, the Ministry of Education hosted a meeting between the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Ivanets and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the Republic of Belarus Ishnatius Graham Mudzimba with the participation of the rector of the Belarusian State University Andrei Korol and the rector of the Republican Institute of Vocational Education Valery Golubovsky.

The Minister of Education congratulated Mr. Mudzimba on his appointment to the post of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the Republic of Belarus and expressed confidence that the start of the diplomatic mission will contribute to the further development of bilateral cooperation between our countries in the field of education.

During the meeting, the parties expressed their interest in developing bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Zimbabwe in the field of education and science.

Certain prerequisites have been created to initiate cooperation. Thus, in the field of education, the necessary legal framework has already been created and a lot of work has been done to develop cooperation in 2023. An exchange of visits took place between delegations of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development of the Republic of Zimbabwe. As a result, the delegations signed 70 cooperation documents.

In particular, a Cooperation Program was signed between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development of the Republic of Zimbabwe in the field of higher education and university science for 2023 - 2025.

In terms of effective performance, it is indicated that in 2023, eight Zimbabwean citizens came for training. Last December, on the basis of RIPO, an internship was organized for teachers of the University of Zimbabwe (Harare) in competency centers for applied qualifications in the fields of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, ecology, agriculture. In its turn MSLU developed and implemented a project with the University of Zimbabwe, within its framework 6 online lectures took place (three lectures from each party) and dedicated to the culture and literature of Belarus and Zimbabwe.

To add, on the basis of BSU, the Center for Belarusian-Zimbabwean Dialogue has been established. It is an e-platform containing materials of bilateral cooperation.

During the meaningful meeting, information was also announced that BSU, BNTU, BSUIR, MSLU, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno are carrying out solid work to launch joint projects with educational institutions of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the Republic of Belarus Ishnatius Graham Mudzimba confirmed his readiness to continue working towards the development of bilateral cooperation.
