It will also adjust the requirements for the education of educators. This was reported to journalists by the Minister of Education Andrey Ivanets before the start of the sitting of the Board of the Ministry of Education "On the results of the study of the activities of structural divisions of local executive and administrative bodies exercising state powers in the field of education, on issues of ensuring the availability and quality of preschool education, educational work in preschool educational institutions, creating safe conditions for the stay of pupils."
The experience of regional preschool educational institutions in various areas of activity was also presented within the framework of the Board. "Today we are considering one of the most important issues in the development of the education system - this is the improvement of the upbringing of our youngest wards at the preschool education level. In the Year of Quality, we pay special attention primarily to preparing children for subsequent socialization, coming to school, obtaining the relevant educational competencies and social skills. That is why we are considering a new educational standard, which has been developed for preschool education institutions so that all components related to the socialization of children, patriotic education, and preparation for school are included in a comprehensive manner and uniformly implemented in all preschool education institutions,” said Andrei Ivanets.
The board members also spoke about monitoring the quality of education using the example of the Minsk region. “Last year, the Department for Quality Control of Education expanded its functions. Now it can exercise control and supervisory functions not only in the field of accreditation and licensing, but also in the field of monitoring the quality of education at all levels. In this regard, in 2024, the education system and quality assurance in all educational institutions of the region were studied in detail. This applies to preschool, general secondary, vocational education institutions. Not only monitoring activities were carried out in terms of the correctness of maintaining regulatory, legal, educational planning documents, but also relevant control cuts were held. Today we are talking about the fact that regardless of the region of our country - in a small or large settlement - where our young person is being raised or educated, the child should receive the same quality education," the Minister emphasized.
In addition, the Ministry of Education is discussing the creation of a new republican competition "Best Teacher of a Preschool Education Institution." "We are considering two models for holding the competition. Now we have a nomination for educators within the framework of the "Teacher of the Year" competition. It is proposed to single it out as a separate competition. But the teaching community has not yet made a decision and is debating this, because there are pros and cons. On the one hand, the "Best Educator" nomination is now part of the authoritative "Teacher of the Year" competition, which is held at the level of the Head of State and has a very high status. On the other hand, it is a separate competition. In addition, the previous republican "Teacher of the Year" competition showed that a teacher of any specialization can win it. The teacher of fine arts and drawing Sergey Shaminsky coped with this task brilliantly and took the victory with his professional skills and charisma. This year he also received the Gratitude of the President for taking an active part in the liquidation of the hurricane consequences and cleaning up the forest in the Gomel region. Therefore, we need to think out everything well, and if we allocate a nomination for educators to a separate competition, of course, we will need to develop the status and prestige of the new competition, this will take more than one, two or three years. Therefore, discussions are still underway, but the decision will be made only in the interests of our preschoolers," noted Andrey Ivanets.
