MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS

Education for the future of the country
Published: 22.04.2024

Traditionally, subbotnik sees employees of the Ministry of Education taking part in various activities jointly with youth organizations. This has become a common practice for the Ministry because there is always a job to do.

Today, the seasonal cleaning was organized in three locations at once - the Negorelsky scientific and experimental forestry enterprise of the BSTU, and the archaeological complex on the Menka River in the Minsk district. Those who sow the reasonable, kind, and eternal have temporarily replaced business suits with work ones and sports uniforms. The landscaping and greening of the areas was handled effectively as the year of quality demands it.

Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets noted: “This is a very important aspect not only so that the Office of the Ministry of Education, our students, pupils could join this work, but also be able to join our ancient and rich history. This is a very significant place not only for Minsk and the restoration of its past, but in general for the history of our country.”

We also carried out a spring cleaning of the workplaces. The benefits are obvious - the surroundings have become much cleaner, more beautiful and greener.

Representatives of one of the noblest professions planted several thousand seedlings of mountain pines, over a thousand large-leaved lindens and more than 700 maples in the Dzerzhinsky region. In the future, the seedlings will grow and become a living decoration of the cities of our country. It takes from 60 to 100 years for the seedlings to grow into a mighty and shiny tree.

The head of the nursery of the Negorelsky scientific and experimental forestry enterprise of the BSTU, Maxim Yaroshuk, said the participants that the help was about time. - “In fact, growing plants and planting material is a very labor-intensive process requiring a lot of costs and a lot of work. It is good to get help because in the spring there is a short planting period, three weeks at best or even just two. It’s so unpredictable, everything grows instantly. It is unacceptable to delay planting. The closer we are to May, the hotter and dryer the weather becomes the harder it is for the plants to take root. The sooner seeds are planted, the better for them.”

However, students are also willing to green. They only work in the nursery during on-site practical classes and begin from the first months of studying in the specialty “forestry”. Thus, yesterday’s school graduates learn about their future profession and hone their skills in the fields. They grow over 100 varieties of woody plants on more than 30 hectares, and take care of the arboretum.

The Head of State also worked for the benefit shoulder to shoulder with Belarusians during the republican subbotnik. In his homeland, Alexander Lukashenko planted an orchard of more than 400 trees. Of the five varieties planted, four are of Belarusian selection. The President emphasized: “We are doing this so that we can pass it on to schoolchildren. So that they would look after them and take the results of their labor for themselves. As I said, every school should have its own garden plot, where you can dig around and walk on the ground and touch it with your hands so that have less stupidity in the head. These schoolchildren will work here as their personal plot.”

Young and old people joined the flash mob to transform the appearance of important areas for the country. Everywhere, working youth, students, schoolchildren and even kindergarten pupils made a feasible contribution to our common national treasury. In all regions, for many years now, as part of subbotnik days, young Belarusians - participants in the “Sad nadezhdy” campaign have been caring for the “lungs” of our country. After all, love for the Motherland begins with caring for it.
