A solemn opening ceremony of the Days of Belarusian education in Vietnam took place today in the Hanoi University of science and technology.
Belarus is represented by the leadership of the Ministry of education and 7 rectors from Belarusian educational institutions. The event also welcomed two more leading Belarusian universities.
In Hanoi university visitors and participants will see an exposition “Education in Belarus”, where leading Belarusian universities inform about studying possibilities in our country on various specialties and demonstrate their video materials about educational programs available.
The Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrey Ivanets and Deputy Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam Nguyen Van Phuc delivered a welcoming speech.
The Vietnamese side was attended by representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnamese educational institutions, schoolchildren and students.
The head of the Belarusian department noted that Belarus considers Vietnam as one of the major partners in the South-East Asia, Highly respects the existing friendly and trusting relations with Vietnam and is interested in the further development of large-scale contacts. Belarus and Vietnam began their cooperation in the field of education in 1962. Currently, both countries realize several international treaties on cooperation in this field, there are more than 40 inter-university agreements and more than 2000 specialists were trained for the Vietnamese economy, including 150 candidates of science.
Mr. Ivanets informed that “Days of Belarusian Education in Vietnam are about to be the first in the modern history of the Belarussian-Vietnamese relations. We sincerely hope these relations to give impetus to our cooperation, bringing it to a brand new level. We have been aiming towards the realization of the event and today the pleasure is ours to present everything our system has.”
At the same time, the head of the Belarusian delegation added that the Republic of Belarus strives to meet all modern standards of education. The victories of students and schoolchildren at world and international competitions testify to the worthy level of Belarusian education. There is a growing demand for Belarusian specialists in the largest scientific and industrial centers of the world. Domestic institutions of higher education are represented in international rankings, including such prestigious ones as QS World University Rankings, Webometrics, etc.
As part of the official opening of the Days of Belarusian Education in Vietnam, a solemn ceremony of signing 10 bilateral documents on cooperation took place.
“We are confident that the signed agreements will become the starting point for future fruitful interaction between our educational institutions and will contribute to the achievement of new agreements”, says Mr. Ivanets.
After the official opening ceremony of the Days of Education, the Minister of Education Andrey Ivanets met with Deputy Prime Minister Chan Hong Ha. The parties stressed the long-standing friendly nature of relations between the countries and expressed their readiness for further fruitful cooperation.
The Minister of Education outlined the priority areas of cooperation in the field of education: training of blue-collar workers, training of personnel for an innovative economy, and training of scientific personnel.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also proposed to involve Vietnamese graduates of Belarusian educational institutions in promoting Belarusian education.
As a result of the event, the parties agreed to study the possibility of expanding bilateral cooperation, in particular, on the preparation of a “Roadmap” for cooperation in the field of education. This map will help to supplement the Agreement on cooperation in the field of education signed during this visit, and it was also about intensifying the exchange of students between the two countries, exchange of advanced work experience and scientific cooperation.
The Vietnamese schoolchildren and students who were present at the opening ceremony of the Days of Belarusian Education were able to learn in detail about the educational opportunities of Belarusian HEIs, get comprehensive answers to their questions regarding the admission procedure.
During the visit, the Belarusian delegation will also visit a number of Vietnamese educational institutions, where they will be able to learn about the high potential of the system of training and advanced training of personnel and outline specific plans for further cooperation.
