From a young age, children must be aware of their civic choice and contribution to the development of the country, Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets told journalists during the national seminar-meeting "Forming the legal culture of youth".
"Today we see that our youth is quite active in the social and public life of the country. One of the components of the formation of a citizen - a patriot of his country is teaching legal culture. Currently, jointly with all interested parties, we are building a fairly broad and effective system of legal education," said Andrei Ivanets.
According to him, over the past few years, the Belarusian National Debate League where students of various specialties take part in the discussion of the most significant socio-economic, socio-political tasks that are facing our country, and develop solutions in a team manner has been operating quite successfully. "We are confident that this is a very good form of involving our youth in state activities," the Minister noted.
"As part of our interaction with the Central Electoral Commission, we are holding a republican Olympiad on electoral law. In this way, we involve young people not only in studying our basic law, the Constitution, and legal information in general, but also in the most important right of every citizen - to be a voter. It is very important," Andrey Ivanets emphasized. "We are talking about the fact that today we must build serious ways of work with public organizations. I would like to note that since September 1, the Ministry of Education jointly with BRSM and BRPO, has developed a new educational program to begin in the 2nd grade - "Me, My Family, My Homeland." These are nine annual thematic classes for each class. For those children who are members of public organizations (BRSM and BRPO). In fact, this is a conversation on the socio-economic and socio-political topics of our lives. From a very young age, we involve children in realizing not just that they love their homeland, but so that they realize their civic choice and their contribution to the development of our country."
The seminar-meeting was attended by teaching staff from all regions of the country. They will share best practices in the field of increasing the legal culture of young people on issues of electoral law.
