This year, at least 140,000 young people are expected to be engaged in various forms of employment, according to Violetta Kravtsova, consultant for the Youth Affairs Department of the Main Directorate for Ideological, Educational Work, and Youth Policy at the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry of Education systematically implements youth employment education programs in conjunction with regional executive committees, the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM), and education departments. Employment coordination is carried out in three main areas.
“Student brigades traditionally hold a leading position. Last year, we saw significant growth: approximately 64,000 people were employed within them. This year, we plan to continue this momentum and aim to attract an equal number of young people to the students’ brigade movement,” noted Violetta Kravtsova.
The second important area is temporary employment, organized through labor and social protection agencies. In 2025, approximately 60,000 young people were employed in this way. Budget funds are allocated for these purposes, and the target for coverage remains unchanged this year.
“It's gratifying to note that approximately 50% of this segment is made up of minors. While student youth are already more experienced, the participation of schoolchildren and college students in work education is very important. Young people are keenly interested in the opportunity to develop their skills and earn their first income,” the management consultant emphasized.
A third way to realize labor potential is through work and recreation camps operating at educational institutions.
Violetta Kravtsova also spoke about measures to improve information support for young people. One of the innovations this year will be the creation of a dedicated call center. Furthermore, hotlines are set up annually in the regions and regional centers to inform parents and young people about employment opportunities.
"For the convenience of young people, the molodezh.bel platform has been created, where job openings are constantly updated. There's also a link to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection's website, where anyone can find a suitable profession outside of student brigades," she explained.
According to Violetta Kravtsova, Belarus has built a comprehensive national system of support for working youth. Legislative regulations are regularly amended to reflect changes in legislation and labor relations. "It's crucial that young people make informed choices when they go to work. They understand the value of labor and know how they'll spend their earnings. Overall, this year, we expect to reach at least 140,000 young people with various forms of employment," the department consultant added.
