Work education for kids is an important component when forming civil responsibility and patriotism. In the frames of “Sad Nadezhdy” national project a solemn opening ceremony of the 10^th anniversary national campaign to harvest fruit orchards took place 18 September in Obykhovo, Grodno oblast.

Over 200 schoolchildren from the oblast, BRPO and BRSM activists, and representatives of the Education Ministry gathered at the apple orchards of the I.P. Senko Agricultural Production Cooperative. Following the festive opening ceremony, the children enthusiastically began picking apples. This year, the plan is to harvest over 10 tons of apples for further processing.

Viktor Dovnar, Head of the Main Directorate for Ideological, Educational Work, and Youth Policy at the Ministry of Education, addressed the participants with words of encouragement: “Since ancient times, the Belarusian people have been renowned for their hard work and unity. Both young and elder have worked together for a common cause in the fields, in the orchards, in the vegetable gardens. Today, living under a peaceful sky, we especially value this unity. You are the younger generation who will shape the future of our country in the coming years. But even now, jointly with your parents and teachers, you are contributing to its prosperity, making our native land even more beautiful and beloved.”

The project is coordinated by the Republican Center for Ecology and Local History and involves educational institutions across the country. The campaign will run until the end of September with thousands of schoolchildren from all regions of Belarus joining the harvest in the coming days.
