Andrei Ivanets: “National Unity Day bears deep historic basis”

Minsk, 11 September. Education Ministry held a meeting ahead of the National Unity Day. It was dedicated to the importance of the state holiday in historic and modern context.

Addressing the teachers, Education Minister Andrei Ivanets noted: “This holiday bears deep historic basis and special importance to our country. This year we have described for the first time in a textbook for 11 grade students titled “Belarusian history in context of world history” using simple and understandable language. It is important for us that young generation understand this is a symbol of our unity and sovereignty and more than a common day on the calendar.

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Vyacheslav Danilovich. Jointly with representatives of the educational sector, the parties discussed the key role of schools, universities and teachers in strengthening national unity, forming civil identity and transmitting historical memory.

“The National Unity Day is a symbol of our unity based on a common history, mentality and traditions. History has taught us that only by standing together, shoulder to shoulder, can we overcome any challenges. Today, in the context of information hybrid wars, it is especially important to consolidate society on the basis of spiritual and moral values ​​and the ideology of the Belarusian state that is patriotism, unity and justice,” Vyacheslav Danilovich noted.

Education is the foundation of national identity, history is the basis of the future, unity is our strength.
