A meeting of the coordination council on the activities of cadet schools, specialized lyceums, and the Minsk Suvorov Military School took place at the State Educational Institution “Polotsk Cadet School”.

The event was attended by First Deputy Secretary of State of the Security Council - Chairman of the Coordination Council Pavel Muraveiko; Deputy Minister of Education - Deputy Chairman of the Coordination Council Alexander Kadlubay; leadership of the ministries (health, defense, internal affairs, emergency situations), etc.

Before the start of the event, members of the coordination council saw the living conditions and educational process of the cadets, visited the school museum, dormitory, educational building, military training center and sports complex.

According to information from director Stanislav Krasovsky, the educational and material base of the Polotsk Cadet School has all the conditions to ensure an effective educational process.

In the 2023/2024 academic year, 275 people began training at the cadet school. In total, Polotsk Cadet School had 12 graduations throughout its history.

From September 2011 to June 2015 Nikita Kukonenko studied in this school. In November 2021, Nikita was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Belarus for the courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty.

During a meeting of the Coordination Council, Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Kadlubay informed about the changes made to the program of field training with students of the 10 grades of cadet and Minsk Suvorov military schools on the basis of 72 educational centers.

It was noted that the Ministry of Education has currently prepared a draft Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus on amendments to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of January 28, 2010 No. 54 “On cadet schools.” The draft Presidential Decree proposes to extend the training and field training period to 12 days.

The round table participants also saw the analysis of the results of admission to cadet schools, specialized lyceums, Minsk Suvorov Military School and life of their graduates in 2023. They further discussed the results of field training sessions with students of VIII grades of cadet schools, the Minsk Suvorov Military School and with students of VIII, X grades of specialized lyceums and were informed about the work of educational authorities to provide students of cadet schools with uniforms.

For reference: In order to establish a Cadet school, it is necessary to get a decision of the regional and Minsk city executive committees, who act as school founders.

In order to coordinate the activities of all those interested in the development of cadet education in the Republic of Belarus, the State Secretariat of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus operates a coordination council on the activities of cadet schools, specialized lyceums, and the Minsk Suvorov Military School.

Until September 2023, 8 cadet schools operated in the Republic of Belarus. In September, another cadet school began its work in the city of Borisov, Minsk oblast.

Students who have completed their studies in the 7th grade at the 2nd stage of general secondary education, who are fit for health and physical development, are admitted to cadet schools through a competition based on entrance examinations. Duration of training – 4 years.

In the 2022/2023 academic year, cadet schools had 1,595 students.
