The organizer of the competition is the Ministry of Education. The competition’s hosts are the Republican Center for Ecology and Local History jointly with the National Institute of Education.

The emphasis is on identifying effective practices in patriotic education; stimulation of methodological activity and development of creative initiative of teaching staff; the formation of a data storage of methodological developments used in patriotic education, as well as a competition will help support talented teaching staff.

Among the participants are teachers of additional education, heads of museums, heads of military-patriotic education, teachers of after-school groups, teacher-organizers, class leaders, teachers (primary classes, history, Russian language and literature, Belarusian language and literature, geography, art).

The Republican competition is held from January to July in 4 stages. Stage I is preparatory one. It lasts from January to March and is carried out in institutions of general secondary education and additional education for children and youth. Stage II is regional stage. It will take place in April. The regional organizing committee organizes the examination of competitive materials for compliance with the conditions of the competition, determines the winners and prize-winners of the regional stage of the competition and provides competitive materials to the regional and Minsk city organizing committee. Stage III is oblast one as well as Minsk city one. It will take place in May and June. The winners and prize-winners of the corresponding stage of the competition will be determined, and their competition materials will be sent to the republican organizing committee. Stage IV is Republican (finale) to take place from June to July.

There are 4 nominations for the competition and each onehas its own concept. Thus, teachers of additional education from educational institutions are participating in the nomination “Best Project on Patriotic Education”. The basis is a project being implemented or planned for implementation in an educational institution, aimed at the patriotic education of students through the use of modern forms and methods of work in the activities of interest associations.

The judges will be taking into account relevance, originality, novelty, quality of content and design.

Heads of museums of educational institutions participate in the nomination “Best Development of a Museum Lesson”. In this event participants provide the development of a museum lesson using elements of non-traditional forms of work based on museum funds (master classes, virtual tours, reconstruction excursions, author’s excursions with elements of personal stories, theatrical performances, creative visual projects).

In this nomination, the focus is on the practical significance, novelty of the development idea, the author’s approach, the cognitive aspect, and the possibility of introducing the development of a museum lesson into the educational process.

Speaking about “The best development of military-historical topics” with the participation of leaders in military-patriotic education, contestants must prepare information thematic folders (lapbooks on military-historical topics). Lapbooks can be done in different formats, including: a standard book with two spreads; folder with 3-5 spreads or in another format.

The criteria for evaluating developments include aesthetics, quality of workmanship, compliance with age characteristics, compliance of the content of the development with historical facts, the universal nature of the development, the possibility of its use by other teachers and educational value.

Teachers of primary school, history, Russian language and literature, Belarusian language and literature, geography, and art participate in the “Lesson in the Museum” nomination. To participate in the nomination, a lesson plan using the potential of the museum of the educational institution (museum exhibitions) is provided.

The judges will consider the practical significance, the author's approach, the appropriateness of using methods and techniques, and the use of the potential of museums and museum exhibitions in the implementation of patriotic education of students.

The winners and prize-winners of the competition will receive diplomas of I, II, III degrees of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, diplomas of the Republican Center, and the National Institute of Education.
