Today, the Ministry of Education held a board meeting on the issue of “On eliminating shortcomings and violations identified by interdepartmental groups established by the State Control Committee, based on the results of control and analytical (supervisory) activities in general secondary education institutions on the issues of comfortable and safe stay of schoolchildren.”

Among the participants were members of the board of the department, representatives of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus, deputy chairman of the regional executive committees and the Minsk City Executive Committee, heads of education departments (divisions) of district (city) executive committees.

It should be noted that on March 19, 2020, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus approved a set of measures to eliminate violations and shortcomings in the institutions of general secondary education of the republic.

In 2022, this Set of Measures was updated and approved by the Deputy Prime Minister on March 16, 2022. All regions have developed, approved and are implementing regional plans for the effective elimination of violations and shortcomings. Control over the elimination of identified violations was ensured.

Minister of Education Andrei Ivanets informed that the monitoring groups carried out quite serious work, during which about 13,000 violations were revealed in all institutions of general secondary education. They concerned the technical condition of buildings, fire and public safety.

In general, from 2019 to 2023, more than 90% of the relevant violations have already been eliminated. An important aspect is that in fact a number of regions plan to complete the implementation of this action plan this year.

Among the decisions taken at the board: on an ongoing basis, at least once every 3 years, there must be technical inspection of buildings, structures of educational institutions by specialists of the Department for Control and Supervision of Construction, as well as the unconditional fulfillment of the requirements of regulatory documents on the organization of inspection of buildings of institutions of general secondary education with involvement of specialized organizations.

“Obviously, the state creates all the necessary conditions for our students, so that every parent is sure that on September 1, having come to school, his child will not only receive knowledge and education, but will also be provided with the necessary safe conditions of stay,” said the Minister of Education.
