Minsk, 24 September. Republican council on historical policy under the aegis of the Belarusian President Administration initiated 2nd Republican competition “Discovering Belarus” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Soviet’s victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The aim of the competition is to keep truth about the war, instill patriotism, civil responsibility and love to motherland as well as fight against any tries to alternate historical memory. All that is to be done using modern media formats.

This competition is for schoolchildren and history teachers aged 31 and younger. Pupils will be divided into two groups: 5-7 grade students and 8-11 grade students.

The competition will span across 4 stages:

School stage – until 29 October

Regional (town) stage – until 12 November

Oblast (Minsk city) stage – until 26 November

Republican – until 15 December

Contestants will be hoping their video is the one to become a true memory voice for future generations. Together they will keep truth about what deed their compatriots had done.
