The 3rd stage of the Republican Olympiad in academic subjects is currently taking place in our country. It ends January 17. This year, more than eight thousand students in grades 9-11 from all over the country are taking part in the intellectual competition. All of them are aiming for a good result, but at the same time this is an opportunity for schoolchildren to gain new experience and find like-minded people.
The Republican Olympiad is held in 18 academic subjects. These are Russian and Belarusian language and literature, history, social studies, mathematics, physics, computer science, astronomy, physical education, chemistry, biology, geography, labor training and five foreign languages (English, Spanish, Chinese, German, French). Schoolchildren not only test their theoretical knowledge, but also their practical skills.
The peculiarity of the Olympiad is that the participants are offered original tasks. Among the task developers are teachers, teachers-methodologists and interns.
The winners of the third stage of the Republican Olympiad in academic subjects have a number of benefits. Those who have reached the heights of science and research receive coveted awards. A first-degree diploma gives eleventh-graders the right to receive the highest score when entering a university. Winners of the third stage of the Republican Olympiad with third-degree diplomas win the possibility of preferential enrollment when entering the most in-demand specialties, for example, pedagogical one.
Consultant of the Department of General Secondary Education of the Main Department of General Secondary and Preschool Education of the Ministry of Education Angela Kudoyarova is convinced that in order to win, first of all, a student and his teacher need to put maximum efforts and be able to work as a team. "The holders of the first-degree diploma are awarded the prize of the Special Fund of the President of Belarus for the social support of gifted pupils and students. We have cases when winners of national Olympiads, former students, are now teaching and preparing the Belarusian team for international Olympiads in academic subjects," she said. Often, it is the teachers who serve as the main motivators for their students, approaching the matter individually and in an unconventional way.
