Minsk, 15 July. National Center for Artistic Creativity of Children and Youth hosted the semi-final of the National competition of young readers "Living Classics - 2025". This significant cultural and educational event united participants from all regions of Belarus and it is a vivid confirmation of the keen interest of the younger generation in literature and the art of reading.

The organizers of the competition were: Education Ministry, Information Ministry, the Union of Writers of Belarus and JSC "Capital Television". The main goal remains the development of the culture of reading among children and young people, education on high moral principles, respect for national literature and the preservation of the spiritual heritage of the country.

A special feature of this year is the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Many participants chose works about war, heroism, love for the Motherland and the memory of the exploits of ancestors for their performances. These readings were especially emotional and touching, reminding us of the importance of preserving historical memory through words.

The semi-final was attended by 28 winners of the oblast stages and the Minsk City Competition. Children performed in four age groups: grades 1-4, grades 5-6, grades 7-8, grades 9-10.

Young readers demonstrated a high level of preparation, masterfully conveying the meaning and emotions of the works of Belarusian and foreign authors. The jury members noted not only the technical performance, but also the depth of understanding of the text, artistry and the ability to convey the idea to the listener.

Seventeen people move to the final. It will be held in September in Lida as part of the Day of Belarusian Literature.

The "Living Classics" competition has been playing an important role in popularizing book culture among young people, developing verbal art and forming a respectful attitude towards literary heritage for more than 10 years. Such events inspire schoolchildren to read new books, feel the power of words and realize their value.

Congratulations to all participants on their successful performance and good luck to the finalists! May the word always remain alive and strong!
